Ancient Theater of Side - Cultural Point
Located in the heart of Side, the Ancient Theater is one of the largest and most impressive Roman-era structures on the Mediterranean coast. Built in the 2nd century AD, it features a capacity of approximately 15,000–17,000 spectators, a vaulted substructure, and a richly decorated three-story stage building (skene).
Originally used for gladiator fights and naval battle reenactments, the theater was later converted into an open-air church during the Byzantine period. Today, it remains a vibrant venue hosting concerts and cultural events throughout the year.
